Hello everyone, it’s been a while....hope you are having a great summer. Some of my activities in the last couple of months:

May 5th: I performed in Venezia, Italy with Trio 3, Reggie Workman & Andrew Cyrille. We went there for one concert....all went well.
May 17th: Trio 3 performed at Sista’s Place in Brooklyn N.Y. every time we have performed at Sista’s place we have had a great time and enthusiastic vocal audiences.......there was nuff encouragement from the lively group of fans at the small club in Bedstuy, Brooklyn.
May 22nd: I hada conversation at the Montclair Public library, sponsored by an organization called Jazz House Kids. This event was one of four with various musicians. I had attended Christian Mc Brides conversation a couple of weeks before my talk. There were some interesting questions and i got to talk about some of my experiences.
May 23rd: Trio 3 performed early evening concert at the Philadelphia Art Museum to a full house. We had o excellent concert.
June 2nd: Trio 3 performed at the Discover Jazz Festival In Burlington, Vermont. we had a workshop and a concert, both were well attended and concert was lively.
June 12th: I played the Vision Festival in New York with my Organ Quintet ....musicians in that group are Jared Gold organ, Peck Almond trumpet,Jahi Sundance Lake DJ, Jonathan Blake drums. This years festival was honoring “Kid” Jordan, the great saxophonist from New Orleans. He performed several nights. On a history note “Kid” Jordan is the one responsible for inspiring the start of World Sax Quartet 32 years ago. He invited Hemphill, Murray, Bluiett and myself to New Orleans to perform with rhythm section. The concert was so successful we dedicated to keep the group together ........that was 32 years ago!!
June 14th: I performed in a outdoor concert in Princeton, New Jersey with trio of Pheeroan Ak Laff drums Michael Gregory guitar. This is a group I had in the late seventies we reformed a couple of years ago. The opening group performed in beautiful sunny weather ....But when we started , wind, clouds, lightnin’ our concert was called due to weather, we did get perform for 25 minutes and then ran to our cars, but not before gettin soaked!
June 18th: Wilmington ,Delaware Trio 3 performed at the Clifford Brown Festival. One of the requirements for this festival , you must play a Clifford Brown original or a tune dedicated to him, we performed our version of “I Remember Clifford “ composed by Benny Goldson.
June 27th 28th 29th: I attended a family reunion on the west coast, San Francisco. It was great to re-connect with family. Hi Lea
July 5th: Duo performance with my DJ son Jahi Sundance we performed at performance space in lower Manhattan called the “Stone” Our concert was well received and attended. Joe Bowie was also there in concert performing the first set in duo with percussionist Adam Rudolph. It was great to see him, we go back to Black Artist group days, he now lives in Amsterdam.
